According to Wikipedia a wanderlust is a strong desire for or impulse to wander or travel and explore the world. I couldn't feel it more and the only thing I really want right now (except donuts) is to go away, meet new people, cultures and flavours and feel the wind in my hair. I know it probably sounds really hippie, but I really know adventure is out there waiting for me. As someone said "I miss places I've never been, experiences I've never had, and people I've never met" and even though it's a cliche that's what I feel right now. I can't stop pinning pictures to my " Travel" board on Pinterest, and yesterday I took my World Map out and I 'm trying to stick it to the wall (a big failure by the way,
the map require something more than little cat shaped stickers all around).
So when a couple of days ago, my friend asked me if I wanted to go away, I decided to ignore my inner NERD's voice saying " SAVE MONEY" and I agreed. For no reason at all, we chose Cyprus, packed our luggage and went for an adventure.
Cyprus it's an amazing island, and even before we flew there, I already knew I will adore it as it has similar culture, food and climate to Santorini that I visited last year.
When on holiday, I'm happy about the simplest things :long walks by the beach, great food, overdose of wine and sun on my skin. I was lucky enough and my short stay ( not quite full 4 days) was filled with all of those, and the only thing I could complain about was one rainy day.
As we went in March the island was really calm, full of pensioners, and I think we actually were the youngest people in the plane, but who cares.
We didn't get to visit whole Island, but when my friend went diving, I rented a bike and I promise you I had the time of my life. Riding a bike by the beach wearing top and mini shorts (no make up allowed on holiday, no, no ,no ) it was the most relaxing thing that actually happened to me this year and just smelling the sea breeze and looking at the amazing scenery ( lemon, orange trees, fields, ruins and other archaeological sites) worked on my stressed soul like honey ^^
I stayed in Paphos, which is west side of Cyprus and I visited a couple of attractions but for the rest of the time I was eating and drinking wine (what I considered as a part of visiting the Island). Looking for the best meze in Paphos we found this nice place called 7 St. Georges Tavern, where everything from wine, olive oil and bread is organic and homemade and service is amazing. We were served by the handsome, young Cypriot man, with an amazing deep sexy voice who was a son of the owner- George and we know it as owner himself came to say hello.
Mezes were amazing, a lot of different platters and no menu - basically you eat till you say stop and the handsome waiter kept bringing more and more food. Yes,heaven indeed.
To sum up, I need to say I will definitely be back to Cyprus as there is nothing I wouldn't like about this Island- from people, to food and weather, everything was perfect, maybe I would just come back in summer when the Island will be fuller with people and parties!
I add pictures by the day it was taken, from first to the last day .
